Role Overview
We are looking for a Correspondent/Sub-Editor to join our editorial team at The Better India. This role is a dynamic mix of storytelling and precise editing, where you'll contribute to meaningful change through impactful content creation and development. You'll have the opportunity to shape narratives that inspire action while upholding our editorial standards.

Key Responsibilities
Story Development & Content Creation
- Identify and pitch compelling, trend-aligned stories that reflect The Better India’s vision.
- Craft engaging stories in multiple formats—long-form, short-form, and social media content.
- Develop fresh, innovative angles that spark change and inspire action.
- Take ownership of your stories, ensuring they are accurate, well-structured, and timely.
Editing & Proofreading
- Edit articles, scripts, and multimedia content with a sharp editorial eye for clarity and engagement.
- Fact-check information and optimize content for SEO to enhance visibility.
- Maintain high-quality standards in a fast-paced newsroom environment, ensuring quick turnaround times.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Collaborate with writers, designers, and content creators to deliver visually engaging, narrative-driven stories.
- Mentor junior team members, helping them hone their storytelling and content creation skills.
- Assist the editorial team with headlines, summaries, and meeting tight deadlines.
Content Strategy & Continuous Improvement
- Innovate editorial processes for efficiency and quality improvement.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging media formats.
- Contribute to enhancing the impact and reach of The Better India’s content.
Ideal Candidate
Experience & Skills
- 2-3 years of experience in digital media/journalism with expertise in news coverage, long-form writing, and multimedia storytelling.
- Proficiency in experimenting with diverse content formats and storytelling techniques.
Passion & Motivation
- A strong drive for journalism and storytelling that inspires positive change.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines with organisation and proactivity.

- Exceptional editing and fact-checking skills to maintain high editorial standards.
