We are looking for a dynamic and purpose-driven Senior Editor to join our English Editorial team.
Preference: Available Immediately
Location: Remote/Anywhere
As Senior Editor – English, at The Better India, you will oversee:
1. Editorial Leadership: Provide editorial leadership and direction to the team, setting high standards for quality, accuracy, and integrity in all content produced.
2. Content Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with The Better India's mission and goals, including identifying key focus areas, themes, and target audiences.
3. Storytelling: Oversee the creation of engaging and impactful stories that highlight positive news, inspiring individuals, and innovative solutions from across India.
4. Editing: Edit and proofread articles, videos, and other multimedia content to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to editorial standards.
5. Analytics: A deep understanding of Google analytics, Meta analytics and other modules that help review, analyse and take data-driven decision-making for our content strategy.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with writers, reporters, photographers, and videographers to develop compelling content across various formats and platforms.
7. Community Engagement: Engage with The Better India's community of readers, contributors, freelancers and partners to understand their needs, interests, and feedback.
8. Training and Development: Mentor and coach junior team members, providing guidance on writing, editing, and storytelling techniques.
9. Research: Stay informed about current events, trends, and developments in the digital media space all over the world.
10. Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, including copyright laws, defamation rules, and privacy regulations.
Our ideal colleague will have a:
1. Passion for creating impact with storytelling, and a knack for identifying the right partners and opportunities for growth
2. Minimum 8 years of experience in journalism/impact, with a focus on editorial leadership and content creation for digital media
3. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
4. Strong editorial judgment and a demonstrated ability to identify and develop compelling stories
5. Proficiency in digital media tools and platforms
6. Deep knowledge of Indian society, culture, and current affairs
7. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
8. Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, lead and inspire a team
